OSI Begins Orthopedic Research

December 29, 2014

OSI is now conducting a variety of orthopedic studies in an effort to improve patient outcomes through greater knowledge of conditions and the impact of treatments.

The first study is under way on patellar dislocation. Knee specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Lyman, is conducting the clinical study. This prospective randomized trial will investigate the results of direct surgical repair of the medial patellofemoral ligament and conservative treatment.

“I think a subspecialist has a responsibility to contribute to what’s known in his or her field,” Dr. Lyman said. “If you treat one patient at a time, it’s wonderful. But if you can discover something that improves the way medicine is practiced, you can help millions of people. “

This study is being conducted at OSI’s Coeur d’Alene office. Please call research coordinator, Neal Johnson at (208) 758-0716 for more information.
